Disney Pixar is known for its quirky animated classics, and 'Cars' is no exception, being a fast-paced story that teaches children winning isn't everything.
Following on from the successes of Finding Nemo and The Incredibles, Pixar Animation Studios once again delves into new territory, this time the world of anthropomorphic cars. The film follows star racecar Lightning McQueen, whose aims to become the first rookie to win a Piston Cup. He is taken on an unexpected journey, however, when he becomes lost in a small country town, and where he meets a group of cars who teach him there is much more to life than just winning.
Pixar's stunning animation credentials are again seen in this film, where, with no humans present, makes the movie seem almost live action. The sheer ingenuity of how the Cars world was put together, and the idea of cars living in a world all to themselves adds to the film's appeal, as does the attention to detail Pixar is renowned for.
The storyline of Cars is appealing to both kids and adults alike, with a fun action packed start and finish, with a deeper message resonating throughout the film. The characterization is one of the film's strong points, with a diverse range of characters and personalities, as well as some real-life celebrities in the cast, including Jay Leno and Michael Schumacher.
The film Cars is not among the very best of Pixar's films, but it is a great film and put together better than many studios can even dream of. Ultimately, a more in-depth storyline and pure emotion is what the film lacks, although its excellent soundtrack and unique concept more than makes up for what is on a whole a very good attempt by Pixar.
