Mad Max Review

Max Rockatanksy (Tom Hardy) and Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) are both on a mission to escape the Citadel from the War Boys in post-apocalyptic Australia. The War Boys are all affected by radiation sickness and get immediately mad when they are limited in resources such as water. Initially, Max is used as a blood supply to the War Boys however we finds his way of escaping to soon meet Furiosa. Furiosa is from the Green Lands who is on her own mission to kidnap the 5 wives of the villain Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne) and return to her homeland in the Green Lands.

Max joins them in the journey to gain his own sense of freedom from the War Boys. As they are chased by Joe and the War Boys, Max and Furiosa find themselves in war with desert tribes such as the Buzzards. All in all, this film is a very well made film with a great storyline. It won the award for best production design and George Miller's talents definitely show in this movie. It has a lot of deeper themes and social commentary such as climate change. Tom Hardy has done an excellent job as Max Rockatanksy.

Pacific Rim film review

In Pacific Rim we are greeted by an imminent future in which humanity has been besieged by giant monsters known as “Kaiju,” which emerge from a dimensional rift deep beneath the Pacific Ocean in order to wreak havoc on humanity. To combat this threat, humanity comes together to create “Jaegers,” giant robots controlled by two mind-linked pilots.

If the spectacle of big robots battling it out with big monsters is all you’re interested in, then Pacific Rim is going to be a five-star experience that you should wholly enjoy in the biggest IMAX 3D theatre you can find. However, if you require a deeper story to sell you on all the spectacle than despite a parade of “cool moments,” a mishandled central storyline ultimately makes the experience a hollow one.

Though there’s a pervading sense of fun and joy that the director Guillermo del Toro has infused his passion project with; the goal is to entertain and entertain it does, for the most part (it does get cartoony, but that cartoon is still pretty fun). The script however is not impressive. The story is straightforward enough, but an abundance of sub-plots often makes it feel scattered-brained. The emotional core and character development are even more unfocused: this is supposedly Raleigh and Mako’s story we are being told – and Hunnam and Kikuchi are both solid leads with solid chemistry – but beyond a couple of superficial dramatic moments, there is no real conflict between our central characters, and no real arc for them to complete as individual characters. Our protagonists are often the least interesting parts of the film, which inevitably means a sort of detached viewing experience.

On the whole, Pacific Rim has its creator to thank for elevating it above so many similar and forgettable action blockbusters, through sheer creativity, love and force of will. While the storyline and emotional core aren’t strong, the action and spectacle are, and del Toro builds his world well enough to create plenty of future opportunities.

Cars Film Review

Disney Pixar is known for its quirky animated classics, and 'Cars' is no exception, being a fast-paced story that teaches children winning isn't everything.

Following on from the successes of Finding Nemo and The Incredibles, Pixar Animation Studios once again delves into new territory, this time the world of anthropomorphic cars. The film follows star racecar Lightning McQueen, whose aims to become the first rookie to win a Piston Cup. He is taken on an unexpected journey, however, when he becomes lost in a small country town, and where he meets a group of cars who teach him there is much more to life than just winning.

Pixar's stunning animation credentials are again seen in this film, where, with no humans present, makes the movie seem almost live action. The sheer ingenuity of how the Cars world was put together, and the idea of cars living in a world all to themselves adds to the film's appeal, as does the attention to detail Pixar is renowned for.

The storyline of Cars is appealing to both kids and adults alike, with a fun action packed start and finish, with a deeper message resonating throughout the film. The characterization is one of the film's strong points, with a diverse range of characters and personalities, as well as some real-life celebrities in the cast, including Jay Leno and Michael Schumacher.

The film Cars is not among the very best of Pixar's films, but it is a great film and put together better than many studios can even dream of. Ultimately, a more in-depth storyline and pure emotion is what the film lacks, although its excellent soundtrack and unique concept more than makes up for what is on a whole a very good attempt by Pixar.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Review

Image result for captain america civil war

Captain America: Civil War is the third Captain America movie. After the efforts of the Avengers lead to the death of innocent people, the Government and the United Nations believed that the superheroes needed to be controlled therefore they introduced the Sokovia Accords, which turn the heroes into a task force supervised by the United Nations. From then, conflict arises within the Avengers team as their opinions are divided. Tony Stark believes that the Avengers should be controlled however Captain America thinks that the Government or UN could have an agenda like S.H.I.E.L.D. The rest of the team has to choose a side thus the Civil War.
This movie had it all, from characters to entertainment and storyline. It has a great lineup of superheroes other than the Avengers. The inclusion of Black panther, Spider-man and Ant-man made the movie more entertaining.  This film was unlike other superhero movies where the villain was just a ordinary man and had no powers. Each side of the Avengers was a antagonist as well as a hero. The movie is packed with great choreography, fight scenes, stunt scenes that look very realistic but at the core of it, the film is about FRIENDSHIP. This movie depicts the consequences of action taken by the Avengers and that lead to the appearance of the villain.

Therefore overall, this movie was EPIC and the delivery was great.

Now you see me 2

                  http://media.vanityfair.com/photos/575db4d923ec979410fd49a9/master/pass/t-now-you-see-me-2-poster.jpg

The Horsemen's are back with their mind blowing magic tricks. A year after outsmarting the FBI, the 4 horsemen make a comeback in the hope of exposing a corrupt company however things don't go their way and suddenly they're transported to China and are blackmailed by Daniel Radcliff's character to pull of a dangerous heist.

"Now You See Me 2" reunites the magician + a newcomer for another heist. Like the first movie, this magic tricks are insane however it offers more of the same narrative . The first movie a huge hit as it was original entertainment and the sequence of the final act was great. However the the 2nd movie has too many plots and twists and halfway through out the movie, the plot seemed unimportant. The action and the magic scenes were amazing but we've seen that before. There are also characters that are irrelevant.

Nevertheless this movie is entertaining and lighthearted. I recommend this movie only for those who are not bothered by the all the twists.

The Legend of Tarzan Review

The legend of Tarzan depicts a young character, Tarzan (Alexander Skarsgard) who is raised by apes his whole life in the wilderness of the jungle without any contact with humans. The way he sees, thinks and communicates resembles that of an ape. When he comes to encounter Jane Porter (Margot Robbie), he feels an unusual sense of attraction towards her that they continue this encounter on a regular basis in the jungle. The early beginnings of the film has been fast forwarded to their married life when she brings Tarzan to England. When he is there, he is sent back to Africa with the accompaniment of George Washington Williams (Samuel L. Jackson) to assist in the allocation of resources and minerals from Africa to England. Tarzan is immediately hesitant with this proposal as it is against the wishes of his family back in the jungle to destroy their land for the gain of the King. Hence, George Washington encourages Tarzan to go with him to prove what atrocities are happening in Africa.

As the movie develops and Tarzan is returned to Africa with his wife and George, when the come along to meet Rom who sent there by the King to secure more minerals. However, Rom is perceived as the villain who acts in his own interest to gain money from his work. Tarzan sets himself on a journey to reclaim the land and save the people from slavery with the help of his animal friends. The overall acting and settings were very appropriate for the atmosphere of the film and the character development worked very well. The relationships between each characters was perfectly portrayed and the panoramic views of the African jungle were so beautiful. It was enjoyable and i would definitely watch this again!

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Film Review

The sixth installment of the Harry Potter film franchise is one of the most emotive yet, with romance in the air, and the grave threat hanging over the wizarding world growing ever darker, HP6 is a masterpiece by David Yates, and one of the best films of the Potter franchise.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is definitive proof that the series has grown up. No longer are wizards and magic the only happenings within the story, with the omnipresent themes of romance and danger from the previous film becoming ever more real. Romantic relationships between the characters become an area of great interest, while Harry and his friends also need to ward of the growing threat of danger from Lord Voldemort and his forces.

Harry, Ron and Hermionie's sixth year at Hogwarts is more eventful than any of them anticipated, with the fearful thought of Snape serving as defence against the dark arts teacher, the task entrusted to Harry by Dumbledore and the mystery surrounding their nemesis Draco Malfoy, the three friends work hard to stick together despite forces pulling them apart. The mysterious Half-Blood prince and his potions book also add an extra layer of depth to the story, while the secret lessons with Dumbledore set up the viewer for the final installments of the worldwide phenomenon.

The Half-Blood Prince is also visually spectacular, with a dark film palate reflecting the moody nature of the story, while exciting camera angles and dramatic cuts heighten the excitement from a film watcher's perspective. The addition of several new scenes exclusively for the film, such as the Christmas at the Weasleys duel also heighten the tension, and help set up the final chapter.

The sixth Harry Potter film is filled with scenes full of emotion, romance, sacrifice and joy, creating a movie which is both emotionally satisfying and visually stunning. David Yates' direction and Nicholas Hooper's dramatic musical score both deserve praise, as does the performance of many of the actors. Although no Harry Potter films were ever awarded an Oscar, this was without doubt the most deserving, and one of the best in the entire Harry Potter franchise.

Fast and Furious 7 Review

Image result for furious 7

The 7th installment takes place after the 6th film and the story continues from the Tokyo Drift (3rd series). The film brings back all the characters that we love and it incorporates things from the past series.

The story follows Dom (Vin Deisel), Brian (Paul Walker) and the rest of the crew, who have decided to live a normal life and concentrate on things more important in life - FAMILY. But "Deckard Shaw" is on the hunt for the members, seeking revenge for his brother and takes out "Han" first and then blows up Brian's family house. Consequently everyone is in danger and they must fight back and eliminate "Shaw" to protect their family.

Like the past Fast and Furious series, the 7th film was consistent with its action packed scenes and the emphasis it places on brotherhood. Although the plot is convoluted, fans are keener on the action scenes rather than the story line. The film's biggest achievement was how it dealt with the passing of Paul Walker midway filming. Through the use of CGI, body doubles and past clips, they kept his character alive till the end. Although the film was action focused, in the end, it honoured Paul and gave his career a perfect ending.

So if your looking for an entertaining movie filled and focused on action rather than the plot then this is a great movie.
